UIRR - Overview • Members: CT-Operators and Terminal-Managers(CT-Operators and TerminalManagers are the link between road and rail) • UIRR: recognisedrepresentative body of freightcustomersatthe European RailwayAgency (ERA) • Common interest of the CT sector: shifting long(er) distancetransportsfrompureroadtorail-roadusingelectrifiedrail • Logisticscompanies and roadhauliersrole: customersaswellasshareholders of UIRRmembers • UIRR-members handled in 2012 • about 50% of European road-rail • Combined Transport • UIRR was founded in 1970;Liaison Office in Brussels since 1988

  3. Combined Transport of UIRRMembers: 1989 – 2012 3 One UIRR - consignment is equal to one truck capacity on the road (2.0 TEU). From 1 million to about 3 million consignments in 23 years The average +7% y-o-y growth is mainly due to dynamically expanding border crossing traffic

Current CT offering (UIRR members) 4 European CT flows: • - 90% of European CT traffictakesplacealongthe FERRMED axis • - Most important relations: NorthwestportstoNorthernItaly (Transalpine = 55%) • - Developing relations: east- and southeastdirections FERRMED Network: - Limited tothe European Union (Turkish, Ukrainan and Belorussian relations missing.)
