Accessing VM (step 1)from off campus • Connect to BU using SSL.binghamton.edu (the “Juniper” VPN client) • Now just do the connections as previously described
Accessing VM – Step 2(connecting to Linux) BINGTZ1.CC.BINGHAMTON.EDU Win… Putty, SSH Or TightVNC G7 Linux systems CMS Putty, SSH or VNC client CP z/VM
Logging in to TJWfrom on-campus • Start a 3270 client (e.g.;MTN3270, X3270, etc.) • MTN3270 is downloadable from BU computing services (SSL.binghamton.edu) • Connect to bingtz1.CC.BINGHAMTON.EDU • Login as TJWnnn (your VM account) • TJWnnn & Password from grade tracker • Read the prompts. Press “1” for Linux.
Logging in to CMSfrom off-campus • Open a browser • Go to SSL.BINGHAMTON.EDU • Click on the Network Connection • Close the browser • Login to the network • with PODS or BGM userid & pw • Network connection menu auto-closes • Continue procedure as "on-campus"
Logging in to Linuxfrom on-campus • Login to CMS (userid & pw in grade tracker) • At the prompt, enter 1 for Linux • Let it finish booting • Click on “Clear” when MORE… appears • Start an SSH session (e.g.; Putty) • Connect to TJWnnn.cc.binghamton.edu • Login as (same for everybody): • root (announced in class) Continued…
Enter: vncserver Create a vnc password if requested I suggest using the same as your root pw Close the window (don't type anything) Start TightVNC on Windows Connect again to: TJWnnn.CC.BINGHAMTON.EDU Use the vnc password you created above Continue on-campus login
Off-campus Linux login • Start the Remote Connect via SSL.BINGHAMTON.EDU (same as for CMS) • Continue from the "on-campus" version
