Not every little story is important, but every little story can be made important.
Deanna, Look in the middle of this screen. the car video is read to go. click on it. Don’t forget doll! Setting the mood...
"I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity."
Some of Edgar Allan Poe’s teasing sentences and fragmentin one of his most famous horror stories… • Sick unto death with that long agony • It conveyed to my soul • For presently, I heard no more • Of stern contempt of human torture • Sweet rest there must be in the grave • abjure • galvanic • locution
How the story starts… I was sick – sick unto death with that long agony; and when they at length unbound me, and I was permitted to sit, I felt that my senses were leaving me. The sentence – the dread sentence of death – was the last distinct accentuation which reached my ears.
It is impossible to say how the idea first entered my mind. But, I decided to slowly creep through the forest- with the dead body.Of course, the officers pass me by on the old pathway. Smiling politely, I welcomed the officers.
You now have 3 minutes to begin creating the plot of the story, before you are asked to switch papers. How do you want to pull your reader into this gruesome ordeal?Which sentences/fragments/vocabulary are you embedding? I was sick – sick unto death with that long agony,…
Pull me into your story, get me to feel the mood; get me to feel the characters’ emotions; also pull me into your setting…. Remember, you eerily have 3 minutes.
Now as you switch papers… read, then expand on the new story… continue the story line… remember to try and add the key fragments and vocab words. You now get 3 minutes…
Here comes the turning point… what will happen in this new story of yours that will be a true climax? Blow your reader away… You again only get 3 minutes to do this.
Thanks to the climax, your new story now has to end. How will it end? This is also your last chance to embed the ‘added words.’ You get another 3 minutes.
Also underline any plagiarized fragments or vocabulary used. _____________________________ _______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ _______________________________ _____________________________ ____________________________ #333 #454
With how much you want to read all the stories, you unfortunately have to wait until tomorrow… Did you remember to underline your ‘added words?’ Also, make sure your ID # is in the margin of every section that you wrote on all the stories.
Bring your ‘Story Pack’ up to your teacher, so she may staple them together. I’d hate for you to lose them, and be out of the competition that gets to happen next….
