  2. nlchp.org LEAP (Lawyers Executive Advisory Partners) is a national legal community philanthropic effort to help homeless and poor Americans achieve self-sufficiency. LEAP member firms provide financial support and pro bono legal services to help the Law Center prevent and end homelessness. LEAP members include many of the nation’s top firms.
  3. nlchp.org Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld LLP joined LEAP in 2008. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center in litigation challenging an ordinance in Dallas, Texas, which restricted food-sharing programs. For its work on behalf of faith-based groups serving food to homeless and poor people in Dallas, the Law Center honored Akin Gump with the 2013 Pro Bono Counsel Award at the McKinney-Vento Awards ceremony in 2013.
  4. nlchp.org Covington & Burling LLP joined LEAP in 2008. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center in litigation against the federal government regarding compliance with Title V of the McKinney-Vento Act. One of the firm’s partners, Georgia Kazakis, serves on the Law Center’s Board of Directors. A retired partner, Rod DeArment, is a former Law Center board member.
  5. nlchp.org Dechert LLP joined LEAP in 2009. The firm recently provided significant pro bono support to the Law Center in a challenge of the state of Wisconsin’s Voter ID law. This led to a major litigation success this week, when a federal judge struck down the law as unconstitutional, noting the disproportionate impact on minority voters, which includes many homeless voters.
  6. nlchp.org DLA Piper joined LEAP in 2009. The firm provides ongoing pro bono support to the Law Center though Project LEARN, to ensure that the educational rights of children experiencing homelessness are protected.
  7. nlchp.org Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP was the first law firm to join LEAP in 2004. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center though creation of a Brief Bank of civil rights litigation materials.
  8. nlchp.org Goodwin Procter joined LEAP in 2005. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through researching potential litigation challenging trespass laws in St. Petersburg, Florida. One of the firm’s partners, Jeffrey Simes, serves on the Law Center’s Board of Directors.
  9. nlchp.org Hogan Lovellsjoined LEAP in 2004. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through researching consumer protection and trade practices strategies for enforcement of the Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act.
  10. nlchp.org KattenMuchinRosenman LLP joined LEAP in 2008. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through researching federal funding of the criminalization of homelessness.
  11. nlchp.org Latham & Watkins LLP joined LEAP in 2007. The firm has recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center to challenge the criminalization of homelessness, including research on ordinances in multiple cities, as well as litigation in Boise, Idaho, challenging an anti-camping ordinance.
  12. nlchp.org Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP joined LEAP in 2012. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through creation of a Prohibited Conduct Chart, researching municipal ordinances in hundreds of U.S. cities which criminalize homelessness.
  13. nlchp.org Microsoft joined LEAP in 2011. The Law Center extends its gratitude to Microsoft for hosting the 2014 LEAP Reception!
  14. nlchp.org Schulte Roth & Zabel joined LEAP in 2007. One of the firm’s partners, Eric Bensky, serves on the Law Center’s Board of Directors. Another firm partner, Howie Godnick, is a former Law Center board member.
  15. nlchp.org Sidley Austin LLP joined LEAP in 2004. One of the firm’s partners, Ed McNicholas, serves as Chair of the Law Center’s Board of Directors. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through researching potential challenges to anti-camping laws and other ordinances that criminalize homelessness.
  16. nlchp.org Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP joined LEAP in 2007. One of the firm’s partners, Peter Bresnan, serves on the Law Center’s Board of Directors. The firm has a strong history of pro bono support for the Law Center.
  17. nlchp.org Sullivan & Cromwell LLP joined LEAP in 2004. One of the firm’s partners, Margaret Pfeiffer, serves on the Law Center’s Board of Directors.
  18. nlchp.org WilmerHale joined LEAP in 2004. The firm recently provided pro bono support to the Law Center through research of McKinney-Vento dispute resolution procedures throughout the U.S.
