  2. Welcome to the online version of Student Orientation, Advising, & Registration (SOAR). The first four sections of the program (Welcome & The Big Picture, College Academics 101, Taking Care of Business, and Pre-Advising) will present information that will be helpful to you throughout your academic career at IPFW. These sections will also help prepare you to meet with your advisor for the final two sections of SOAR (Advising and Registration). Use the to navigate through the sections. • nline SOAR

  3. You will be able to access the various sections of SOAR in sequence. Student guides will accompany you throughout the first four sections. There will be brief reviews at the end of each section to help affirm your understanding of the information offered. Your academic advisor will assist you with the final two sections of SOAR. • nline SOAR

  4. You can pause or leave SOAR at your convenience and return at any time. However, remember you will not be able to participate in advising or registration without having completed SOAR. Please contact Student Life (260-481-6609) for assistance if you encounter technical problems with the online SOAR or if you have any questions about the content of SOAR.   7. Overview of IPFW In this part of SOAR, you will learn about IPFW symbols, rituals, and traditions. You will get a sense of IPFW community values as well as an overview of IPFW facilities and services. Finally, you will gain insights into IPFW as an international and multicultural community. <SOAR video> Homepage Section 1

  8. Words of Welcome Universities use various titles for their chief executive officers. At IPFW, we use the title of chancellor. Chancellor Mike Wartell offers his words of welcome in this part of SOAR, addresses his thoughts on how to make the most of a college education, and why you made a great choice in choosing IPFW. The Indiana Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA) is IPFW’s student voice. IPSGA President Amanda McCann also offers her welcome in this part, briefly describes the role of IPSGA on campus, and student pride at IPFW. <chancellor video> <IPSGA video> Homepage Section 1

  9. “Big Picture” Perspectives This part of SOAR offers thoughts on “big picture” perspectives on campus life. These include taking charge of your own success at IPFW, what success will look like for you, IPFW’s Baccalaureate Framework, learning and stress, what it means for you to be a part of an international and multicultural community of learning, and your rights and responsibilities as a student at IPFW. Welcome & The Big Picture Section 1 This four-part section provides an overview of IPFW, words of welcome from campus leaders, “big picture” perspectives on campus life, and observations from fellow students on making the most of SOAR. Each part will include core content and also offer links to additional information you may wish to explore at your convenience. Links will also be provided to helpful forms and resources.
