DARK KNIGHT TRIAL • Gotham Police have charged Batman, AKA the Dark Knight, with a series of murders including the death of prosecutor Harvey Dent following a crime spree that has seemingly transformed the super hero into a super villain. • Earlier this week Commissioner James Gordon smashed the bat signal then launched a city-wide manhunt that ultimately culminated in Batman’s arrest. • “This is a very sad day for the people of Gotham,” said Gordon. • Batman is charged with multiple counts of murder for allegedly forcing Dent over the side of a building and killing several other Gotham residents. He is also charged with assaulting the Joker. • When police executed a search warrant at Batman’s lair, dubbed “the bat cave,” they discovered numerous bats and added a further charge under the Wildlife Act for keeping exotic animals without a permit. • Batman, who is expected to take the stand in his own defence, will answer to the charges this weekend in court.
