What is the Transportation Improvement Program? • Identifies how all federal and state transportation money is anticipated to be spent in Polk County. • The TPO is required by federal legislation to prepare and adopt a TIP annually.
What’s in this Document? • Projects = highway, public transit, rail, aviation, bicycle, pedestrian, safety, and freight-related projects. • Projects come from the FDOT Five-Year Work Program (FY 2013-2017), including projects that were funded in the previous federal fiscal year (due to fiscal year overlap), and transportation projects in local government Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).
Why Does the TIP Need to be Amended? • Projects must be listed in the TIP accurately in order to receive federal funding: • Correct project phasing • Funding (source, year, and amount) • Project description and limits • Must be consistent with the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

RECOMMENDED ACTION TPO Staff is requesting the Committee recommend approval of the amendments to the FY 2012/13-2016/17 TIP as presented.
