How is an Airport Project defined? • Includes all necessary components & tasks to provide required functional utility, satisfying the Overall Development Objective (ODO) • One ODO for single or multi-phase project • Runway extension (ODO) may include: • Environmental Assessment • Project Design • Land Acquisition (Concurrent/Prior) • Relocating NAVAIDS • Parallel Taxiway • Hold Apron • Construction of Extension • Lighting, Marking, Signage, etc • Commissioned
2010 Program Issues / Expectations • FAA NextGen Initiatives – Investing billions in system improvements thru 2018. Transforms ATC to Satellite Based System. Develops High Density Airports. http://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/nextgen/ • Green Infrastructure Policy – Will affect FAA eligible cost guidance • Decrease in commercial air traffic due to economy – less local airport revenues – Projects Delayed. • Lack of Reauthorization. Slowing needed changes for program funding improvements. • Noise Compatibility Projects – Contraction of Noise Exposure affects mitigation projects. • Noise Land Disposal – FAA completing review of plans. Standard operating procedures needed.
