Join 1,500 students from 40 schools for a weekend conference in Hershey, PA. Experience diverse committees from General Assembly to specialized topics like International Criminal Court.   4. Conference Format • Conference held over a weekend early January (Fri-Sun) • Arrival Friday 10:00am • Depart Sunday 12 noon • Hershey Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey, PA • 1,500 students from NJ, PA, DE & MD from 40 schools • Schools recruit & prepare students from Sept-Dec.

Specialized Committees •  International Criminal Court (ICC) -Cases against world figures •  International Court of Justice (ICJ) -Cases between nations •  Historical Security Council (HSC) -Debate major international issues from historical eras •  Nation Building Committee (NBC) -Develop comprehensive plan for a nation in historical period •  Press Corps (Written & Video) • - newsletters, video, PowerPoint

  8. Delegate Responsibilities •  Perform research on country/topics •  Defend & debate country positions •  Make speeches & lead negotiations •  Submit documents • Credential • Country Research Paper or appropriate assignment

  9. Student Document Flow Complete credential & submit $100 deposit to Advisor to participate, then you’ll receive committee & country assignment. Country Data Sheet (basic country information) Resolutions (created at conference, details formal action for UN )

  10. Country Data Sheet  Provides broad overview  Evaluates 6 social institutions  Important knowledge for debate  Not submitted to program staff

Country Research Paper •  Outlines nation’s positions on all the assigned committee topics •  Provides specific recommendations for resolutions & debate •  Copies distributed in committees •  Used to develop actual resolutions •  Due to Program Office on Dec 1st •  MS Word file-sort by committee

  12. Resolutions  Document written, debated and voted for action in each committee  Prepared during the conference with other delegates.  Each delegate writes and debates on any resolution
