SCT Power Supply Installation ScheduleJan Bohm, Prague AS,4th November 2005 The SCT Power Supply System will be installed in 22 LV&HV racks situated equally in USA15 and US15 PS installation will be done in two basic steps: A. Installation of PS in racks; B. Connection of type IV cables, tests *) Two groups / 3 persons in parallel – 7minutes per one cable, 8 hours/day, 5 working days/week Total working time for installation of PS and connection of type IV cables with tests is ~95 man weeks A. Prerequisites for Installation of PS in Rack 1. Prerequisites from TC (Infrastructure etc.) -Rack electricity completed and running -Turbine in place -Air deflector in place -Two air-water heat exchangers installed in racks and tested for leaks 2. Prerequisites from SCT -Type IV cables installed and cut to final length-all 192 cables/rack (with or without 17W5 connectors) -Local powered CANbus and DCS for 4 crates available and operating (Local Work Station) -Return of power supplies from macro-assembly sites in time (Oxford, Liverpool, NIKHEF, CERN-SR1)
B. Prerequisites from SCT for Connection of Type IV Cables to Crates and Tests -Cables from Interlock Matrix to PS crates installed and tested (routing and length of I-cables are not yet known!) -Type IV cables assembled with 17W5 connectors -Two or three Ljubljana Testers available with either Termination Boxes for test up to PP3 or dPP1 for test of whole electrical path up to JST/FCI connectors. The LV&HV&Shorting Pass-through Cards with the cable adapter to Ljubljana Tester (four completes) will be delivered from Prague. B. Prerequisites from TC -Water cooling in US15 is available -The electricity distribution completed in US15 Table 1 Barrel –44 crates: List of racks which should be prepared for the PS installation with high priority Before installation of PS, the type IV cables also for the End Caps must be installed and cut to final length in the shared racks. Table 2 The End Caps: List of racks – 44 crates Plan for 2005 1. The cooling performance test of fully loaded PS rack in USA15 - successfully done in Oct 2. Pre-installation -Nov/Dec -Reinstallation of 7 racks in SR1 -Return of PS from Oxford (6 racks) -Assembly of the power distribution cables in the Circuit Breaker Boxes and the front door locks -Assembly of the Power Pack 6U Frames with Artesyn shelves -Continuation of the backplane tests -Test of the Artesyn power packs with the Power Pack Monitor Cards -Assembly of mechanical parts in racks (runners under crates,…) 3. Installation of PS in the first rack Y.05-14.S2 in US15 and connection of type IV cables and tests -Nov/Dec -Type IV cables already have been installed and assembled with 17W5 connectors and tested with Ljubljana Tester -Connection of cables to the backplane layer by layer of 24 cables. Test of each layer with prototype of LV&HV& Shorting Pass-through Cards and adapter to the Ljubljana Tester Since the interlock cables will not be installed in time the type IV cables must be again disconnected from three top crates.
