  1. The Magic of Scuba Diving in Cyprus Scuba diving allows you to explore worlds unknown that lie deep beneath the endless fathoms of the ocean. Cyprus is one of the best destinations for scuba divers with its long and winding stretches of brilliantly white beaches, and fascinating shipwrecks luring divers offshore. The Mediterranean island of Cyprus boasts clear blue water that is pleasantly warm and a rocky coastline full of caves that simply beg to be explored. Not only do the cuisine and culture draw thousands of tourists every year, but the warm, blue water is a diver’s paradise. It is situated on the Northeast side of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and offers a host of diving opportunities for both beginners and experts alike. The Zenobia is the most famous dive on the island and takes divers on a tour of a very impressive wreck with trucks chained to its deck in an interesting and fascinating 3D suspension. This wreck is known as the Wreck of the Zenobia and it is a must-dive for any avid diver. Originally a Swedish ferry, the Zenobia met her match and sank to the depths during the month of July in 1980. She is currently resting on her port side at a depth of approximately 52 – 141 feet or 16 - 43 meters. The Zenobia is approximately 584 feet or 178 meters long, and almost entirely taken over by beautiful local marine life. The Zenobia also sports an impressive hold area that offers a very unique and unusual penetration dive for those divers that have suitable training. If you’re planning a diving holiday, the best time to go would be from March to November, as this will give you the best chance of pleasantly warm water and a calm ocean overall – ideal diving conditions. Although this is the best time to go, Cyprus has the unique offering of a fairly mild climate and is one of the best areas in the Mediterranean for year- round dives. January is when Cyprus receives the most of its rain, but even so, the country

  2. doesn’t often have rainy days exceeding ten, and sunshine can be expected year-round, so it is the perfect holiday destination regardless of the season. If you head to Cyprus in the winter, the visibility might drop and the water might not be as clear, but you’ll still be treated to ambient temperatures and some sun. During the diving season of March to November, which is by far one of the longest diving seasons in the Mediterranean, the water temperature averages between 60 - 80°F or 16 - 27°C, which is nice and warm. For the rest of the year, you can expect cooler temperatures. If you decide to go holidaying in Cyprus and you take a dive, you can expect to see a diverse range of marine life and a fascinating collection of soft and hard corals and sponges. The marine life includes several species of fish, octopus, eels, and crustaceans that abound on the reef. Should you head a little further out, you can expect to see some dolphins and you may even encounter a green or loggerhead turtle as they are frequent visitors to this part of the Mediterranean. There is even a reserve nearby Akrotiri where divers can get up close and personal with interesting species such as bream, bass, moray eels, and groupers. Cyprus is one of the most popular gems tucked away in the Mediterranean and although throngs of tourists visit its sandy shores and beautiful dive sites every year, it remains a hotspot for divers from across the world. The beauty and unique quality of the marine life and dive sites in Cyprus ensures a fascinating trip for anyone that loves to immerse themselves in the ocean and get up close and personal with the beautiful life below the water.
