  1. The Constitution of America By: Emily Varga Rachel Kirker Irma Dervisevic

Basic Facts of the Constitution • Written in 1877 by Governor Morris. • This was written because the people wanted to be heard. • Many people believed that “The Constitution of America” is better than the “Articles of Confederation”. • Because of the “Constitution of America” we have established a justice court system.

  3. House of Representatives • The House of Representatives played a major role in the “Constitution of America”. • If you wanted to be in the House of representatives you had to meet certain qualifications. • You had to be 25 years of age and have 7 years of citizenship in America. • Also the people had a say in who they wanted to represent the “House of Representatives”. Every other year the people choose a person. • As soon as the representative is chosen they are given permission to chose their officers and speakers of their office.

The Compromise That Made Everyone Agree • The “House of Representatives” had a part in creating the “3/5’s Compromise” • The “3/5’s Compromise” is an agreement to count three-fifths of a state's slaves in apportioning Representatives, Presidential electors, and direct taxes. • Before this compromise slaves were not even acknowledge a vote.

  5. Writs of Election • If any state had a vacancy in the representation a bill was enforced know as the “Writs of Election”. • Writs of election gave the House of representatives to send officers or speakers that they have chosen to share their opinion of impeachment. • Even if anyone in the conference has an opinion usually the house of rep. can override what they say. • House of rep. has sole power at all times.

  6. Writs of Election • They will take in everyone’s input about what ever subject is and give their final thought on it.

  7. The Senate setup • Three classes for the senate • The classes are • Class 1 • Class 2 • Class 3 • To rotate the senate the process is 1/3 is up for re-election

  8. Requirements for senate • You have to be 30 years old. • Residency- 9 years minimum • Inhabitant- the state that they represent

  9. Senate • The president of the Senate is Joe Biden. • Their role is to impeach in certain things that are discussed. • One of his officer is the President of Pro Tempore.

  10. President of the Pro Tempore’s • The president of pro tempore constitutuionally recognized officer who presides over the camber in the absence of the normal presiding officer. • Pro Tempore- This word comes from the Latin root and means for the time being. • Current president is Leahy. • Also it is 3rd in the line of the succession for the presidency.

  11. President of Pro Tempore • A easier way to understand this is that if someone is absent in the camber who ever is the president of the pro tempore can sub in for him and take on his role.
