  4. 3. Piglit (Yet Another Family of Fire/Fighting Starters) • Piglit, Pignite, and Pignition were the predictions. One was right. • Tepid + pig • Pig + ignite • Ember + boar

  5. 4. Wotter, Who Isn't Afraid to Get Down on All Fours • You know how "own" became "pwn" because someone typed a 'p' instead of an 'o'? Oshawott sounds like someone said "Pshaw, we're not calling him Wotter!" but said "Oshaw" instead, then decide to keep the "wott". • ??? + otter • Dew + otter • Samurai + otter

  14. 13. Newbats Just what we needed. A new cave-dweller that looks like a freakish blend of Zubat and Mankey. Woo + bat Swoop + bat

  15. 14 . Diggers Seemingly the Sandshrew family's counterparts. Drill + caliber? Excavate + drill Excadrill + Drilbur = Excalibur.

  16. 15. Chansey's Hot Cousin Wonder if she'll get an evolution in Gen VI and a baby form in Gen VII. Play on "audio" with a possible "dino"?

  17. 16. The New Machop • Pokémon with props in their sprites. • Play on "timber" • Play on "girder" • Conk + ?

  18. 17. The New Poliwag Oh boy...at least the final form looks like a nice fat frog. ? + tadpole Palpable + toad Seismic + toad

  23. 22 . Oddish II According to humanoid Pokémon lovers, Lilligant is sexy. Petal + lily Lily + elegant (or li'l)

  24. 23. Green Carvanha It can have red or blue secondary coloration, depending on...I forget what. Bass + masculine

  25. 24. Fine, Sandile. Oh, he just has to turn red at the end. Sand + crocodile Crocodile + rock? Crook(ed) + crockodile

  26. 25. Ugly Infernape Inferior  Inexplicably, one of them retains its Japanese name and the other does not. Maybe they figured those outside Japan would prefer more consistent incomprehensible names?

  27. 26. Tangela III Following in the tradition of Tangela and Carnivine, a pure grass-type with no other forms. Miracle? + cactus

  28. 27. Paras II Like Paras and Parasect, except instead of a mushroom shell, it gets a giant slab of rock. Dweeb + pebble Crustacean + ?

  29. 28. Croagunk II Kinda like Croagunk, but even cheesier. It's even the color of cheese. Scraggy: adj. lean or thin; scrawny. Scraggy + crafty?

  30. 29 . Skarmory's Brother Yup, another sole bird with an uncommon second type. Sigil + glyph

  31. 30. CoFAGrigus • Yanma + mask • Cofag ("one of two or more joint fags") + a play on "egregious" • What, don't you believe me?

  32. 31 . Sea Turtles • Reminds me of Finding Nemo. • Turtle + toga • Caraca + coaster • ...I'm not helpful, am I?...

  33. 32 . Archaeopteryx Not to be confused with Arceus. Archaeopteryx + aven (or arching) Archaeopteryx + cheops (Neopets fruit; kidding, I really have no idea)

  34. 33 . Trashy Pokémon Bidoof was the Vendor Trash Pokémon, but you'll really only find these guys in a dumpster. Trash + rubbish Garbage + matador (?)

  35. 34 . Introducing Generation V! If you don't know them by now, where have you been? Parallels have been drawn between this pair and Riolu/Lucario. Even the lengths of their names correspond.  (Japanese names retained.)

  36. 35. Jigglypuff : Wigglytuff :: Minccino : Cinccino They're chinchillas.  I can only assume minty chinchilla and kinky chinchilla.

  37. 36. Gothic Abra Something tells me Marley would like these loli/goth PKMN. Goth + lolita Goth + Chikorita (nrly) Goth + belle?

  41. 40. Sparkle Bambi, the Gimmick Pokémon First we had day and night, now we have seasons. Deerling = little deer, presumably. Saws + buck?

  42. 41. Pachirisu Evo...not! What's better than an electric squirrel? An electric flying squirrel! Emonga -> Emolga. I understand neither.

  43. 42. How Does This Happen? (Part 1) No comment. I'm gonna say Caribbean + blast and Escargo + cavalier.

  44. 43. Pokéshroom Mushroom with a Pokéball design on top. Play on "foongus" Play on "Among us" or "humongous" or something.

  49. 48 . Gears, Gears, and More Gears Unique in that the only change to the sprite when it evolves are more gears added. Plays on "clink", "clang", and the two combined.
