This type of criticism looks at how most of our society is male dominated. • Feminist Criticism attempts to stray away from the male characters and takes a look at the females.
This type of criticism looks at the characteristics given to female characters, their occupations, how much detail is given about them.
Feminism is looking for • Social and political equality • Does not look at males in a bad way • Searching for equality for EVERYONE • Including people of different races and religions
1st Wave Feminism • Women’s suffrage • Women fought for basic rights • More women stand up for their rights • Activists are making more appearances • The differences between men and women.
2nd Wave Feminism Fought for… • Working conditions for women • Divorce laws • Laws against domestic abuse
3rd Wave Feminism • Deals with women of all races and with all religious beliefs. • For current and future feminists.
