2nd Grade Grading Rubric
Assessments • Your child will be assessed both formally and informally throughout the school year. • Informal Assessment: • Observational data collected during projects, activities, discussions and assignments • Formal Assessment: • Daily assignments and unit tests where a grade is given • HUSD Quarterly Assessments – Reading & Math • Literacy Toolkits (assesses fluency & comprehension, reading level, HFW knowledge, and phonics skills) & DIBELS (oral fluency, decoding, comprehension through retelling) to guide reading instruction • Stanford 10 – state administered, norm referenced test, occurs in April
What is a B.E.E.? • Stands for: • Bring EverythingEveryday • Communication log between school and • home • A tool to teach 2nd graders organization and • responsibility
Homework • Read for a minimum of 20 minutes a night. • Record reading on the log in their • S.H.A.R.K. and obtain parent initials. • Complete 3 spelling activities and obtain parent initials. • Complete a math practice page. • Practice math facts for 5 minutes each night. • *Reading and math facts practice can be done on the weekends if it works better for your family.
