Introduction to Stella • The aim of the Stella programme is: - to provide opportunities for administrative staff mobility, - to enhance cross cultural experience and work placement experience, by means of one week work exchanges among University members within the CGU. Introduction to Stella • Participation in the Stella programme: Institutions of the CGU interested in participating in Stella have to sign a letter of endorsement in order to benefit from the working visits. Each year, during the period November-December, universities outline an offer form, explaining the services or offices open for the administrative staff and the benefits provided by the host institution. Introduction to Stella • The general aim of the working visits is to enhance the participant’s knowledge of the host institution. Such a visit will allow participants to discover the functioning of a similar service and improve his or her skills.The host institution also profits from the visits. • Maximum duration of each working visit: one week. Period of the working visits: March – October (excluding July and August). • Each applicant should fill in the application form and submit it to its own coordinator. At each institution there is a responsible for collecting applications, managing and advertising the Stella programme. Compostela Group of Universities. Introduction to Stella • Selection process: • The steering committee meets twice a year to manage the Stella programme and award the CGU mobility grants. Members: - Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels - Masaryk University - University of Oulu - Universidad Publica de Navarra - University of Vigo Compostela Group of Universities. Introduction to Stella • Selection process: • In February, the steering committee looks at applications and offers and match exchanges. It allocates grants according to candidates’ needs (mainly transportation). The Compostela Group Executive Secretariat communicates mobilities and grants to both home and host institutions. • At the end of the stay, each participant will fill in an evaluation form and his/her university will submit to the Compostela Group Secretariat this report together with a final report regarding the programme. Introduction to Stella • Funding: • A total of 20 000 Euro subsidy to be used in the shape of grants for the mobility has been granted by the CGU. Priority will be given to the relation of West Europe universities with those of Central and East Europe. Host institutions will provide free accommodation to visiting staff. Report on Stella 2007 • In the academic year 2006-07, 31 universities belonging to the CGU have participated in the programme, offering a total of 72 places (22 more than last year). 114 applications were received (compared to the 55 in 2006) and 64 applicants were pre-selected by home universities. • In February 2007, 36 exchanges were approved by the steering committee, for the period March-October and the same number of CGU’s grants were awarded for a total of 19 500 €. Report on Stella 2007 • Some reports: Candidates’ opinion: • “Such a programme provides its participants with greater motivation for work and gives them the feeling that they are a part of a bigger team. It is much easier to work with people we have met personally. It provides participants with a closer look at work at a different university and therefore with a possibility to enhance work at one’s own university”. Compostela Group of Universities. Report on Stella 2007 • Positive aspects outlined: • “Possibility of comparing similar services at different universities. High quality training • Exchange of ready solutions to the problems services are facing. • Exchange of cultures and experiences. • Making new acquaintances. • Gaining an incentive to introduce the changes after coming back. • Broadening horizons. • Promotes international cooperation and helps all the institution to be more internationally aware”. Chronology Stella 2008 • The programme is open in 2008 to all universities within the Compostela Group of Universities. • Each institution wishing to participate in the Stella programme in the academic year 2007-08 should send to the Compostela Secretariat before the 18th of December: - Letter of endorsement • Offer form (stating service and benefits provided: accommodation and others). 1st week of January: all offers are shown at CGU website Compostela Group of Universities. Chronology Stella 2008 • Each applicant at each university interested in participating in a working visit, and having considered all the offers through the CGU’s web page, should fill in the application form on line and submit it to its own Institution. Each institution participating in the programme will send before the 31st of January a maximum of 3 applications to the CGU’s Secretariat. • A coordinator at each institution will be responsible, among other aspects, for advertising and collecting applications.
Chronology Stella 2008 • In February, the steering committee will meet to consider applications and match exchanges and offers. It will award the CGU’s grants according to candidates’ needs (mainly flight tickets).1st week of March: the list of selected applicants is shown at CGU website. The CGU Secretariat will communicate both home and host institutions of the steering group decision. • Mobilities will take place from March till October (excluding July and August). Each participant and institution will fill in an evaluation form at the end of each visit and will submit it to the Compostela Group Secretariat. Compostela Group of Universities.
