Status of relations with other International Organizations • List of International Organizations with which the IHO maintains relations: • IHO Publication P-5 - Yearbook (Appendix 4) • IHO website at Home > External Liaisons • Recent developments: • New observer: The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA) • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) • In progress: • MoU on cooperation with the Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA) - pending signature • Agreement on cooperation with the International Seabed Authority (ISA) - draft circulated to Member States for comments • MoU on cooperation with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) - drafting stage

UN Priority on Good Management of Seas and Waterways • 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SD) • SD Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development • SD Goal 11 on resilience of cities and human settlements refers to the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 which includes the consideration of the impact of severe weather events and of natural phenomena such as tsunamis • Paris Agreement on Climate Change: note the importance of ensuring the integrity of the oceans • IPCC agreed to prepare a special report on climate change and oceans and the cryosphere

IHO Stakeholders’ Forum and related activities • IHO Stakeholders’ session held as part of HSSC-7 • 8 additional participants • 2 themes based on the outcome of a call for abstracts: • development in survey technologies and methods; • S-100 development and related issues. • Report of the session at Annex B of the Minutes of HSSC-7 • No specific actions arose from the presentations

IHO Stakeholders’ Forum and related activities • Other events engaging IHO Stakeholders since IRCC-7: • IHO-led forum on S-44 • 10th GEBCO Science Day • ABLOS UNCLOS - Advances in Governing the Blue World • Hydro 2015 IBSC Seminar • MSDIWG-7 preceded by an Industry Demonstration Workshop and an MSDI Open Forum

IHO Stakeholders’ Forum and related activities IHO-led events during the next IRCC inter-sessional period: • Forum for Future Ocean Floor Mapping 15-17 June 2016 • 11th GEBCO Science Day - 12 October 2016 • ABLOS Seminar on “Roles of the Law of the Sea and the Hydrography in Asian Region” - 28 October 2016 • MSDI Open Forum in conjunction with MSDIWG-8 - January/February 2017

Action required of IRCC • IRCC is invited to: • Note the report • Invite IHO Member States and RHCs to be attentive to opportunities to raise awareness on the role of hydrography and the importance to improve our knowledge of the seas and oceans in support of the sustainable development goals, disaster risk reduction and the integrity of the oceans • Note the list of events in Annex A and consider how the IHO might be represented in those events considered relevant • Take any other actions as appropriate
