  5. LR law on Statistics, art. 15 part 4 : confidential statistical data can be provided for scientific purposes only if: • 1. Data should not permit direct identification of respondents. • 2. Scientific institution, which gets data should secure protection of produced data • LR Government decree 1998-04-14 No.448 item 4. Information for scientific purposes can be provided to such research and educations institutions: higher schools, research institutes, scientific associations • LR law on Science and Studies, art. 6: State scientific institutes, universities, public educational establishments. • Legal acts provide special conditions if scientific institutions are interested in getting personal data. • LR law on Personal Data Protection, art. 2 part 1 defines, which data are personal data: – Art. 12 states, that for scientific research purposes personal data can be handled if the person gives his permission; • – without such permission can be handled if reported to the State data protection inspectorate, which carries out provisional check (~ 2 months); • – data are changed in a way not to identify data subject Legal acts regulating provision of Statistical information for research purposes

Co-operation with Universities • Vilnius university – general statistics methodology, history of statistics, demography, encl.historic; • Vilnius Gedimino Technical university – application of mathematic methods in statistics, transport statistics, urban statistics; • Vytautas Magnus university – general statistics methodology, tax statistics • Agro university – agro statistics; • Klaipėda university – regional statistics; • Medical academy – health statistics, demography; • Mathematics and informatics institute – application of mathematic methods in statistics • Social surveys institute – demographic surveys, forecasts; • Agro economic institute – agro statistics, ekonomic results of farmers
