  1. IEEE 802.15 TG13 Multi-Gbit/s Optical Wireless Communication July 2017 Closing Plenary Report Date: 2017-07-13 Author: Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  2. July 2017 Abstract This presentation contains the IEEE 802.15 TG13 Closing Plenary Report for the July 2017 session in Berlin, Germany. Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  3. July 2017 TG13 held Tutorial + 7 meetings in Berlin Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  4. July 2017 TG13 MG OWC activities this week • OWC Tutorial Monday 7:30-8:50 p.m.: Well done! • Review Status of D0 of TG13 • D0 needs more interactive work • Hardly doable by individual comments and resolution • Heard contribution, resolved all comments uploaded so far • Discussed further open issues f2f • New contribution on unified frame structure • Debate was partly finished, will be revised and continued in Kona • 2 technical motions that considerably simplify the draft • Ad-hoc meeting July 17 and 19 at Fraunhofer HHI • Agenda: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.15/dcn/17/15-17-0421-01-0013-ad-hoc-meeting-slides.ppt • Request to provide further comments until August 27 Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  5. TG13 Motion #3 TG13 moves that: The concept using the bandplan in Table 111 in D0 shall be redesigned as it is needed only for transmissions where the receiver needs to know the wavelength of the transmitter. There shall be a default mode indicating wavelength-agnostic transmission (e.g. use “111” in the “logical channel” field). Other states of this field are left for further study. Accordingly, table 111 is removed and comments are requested what implications this will have on the rest of the document. Moved by John Seconded by Mohammad Y/N/A: 4/0/0 Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  6. TG13 Motion #4 TG13 moves that: In future drafts, simply refer PHYs as, pulsed modulation PHY (PM-PHY), low bandwidth OFDM PHY (LB-PHY) and high bandwidth OFDM PHY (HB-PHY), respectively. Moved by:  John Seconded by: Volker Y/N/A:  3/0/0 Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  7. July 2017 Provide further comments until August 27 • D0 of TG13 is open forfurthercomments. WG isaskedtoprovidefurthercommentsandsuggestresolutionsuntilAugust 27 on Mentor orbyusingthe email reflector. • The aimistoresolve all incomingcommentsduring TG13 meeting in Kona, andproduce D1 thereafter. Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  8. July 2017 Ad hoc Meeting in Berlin Objectives: • DiscussPulsed Modulation PHY in 802.15.13 • Start from PHY II in 15.7 asbaseline • Review andcompareexisting implementations • Develop a commonspecificationthatwouldenableinteroperability • Discussandproposenewspecificationwiththerestof TG13 at theKonameeting Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)

  9. July 2017 Final Agenda of Ad-hoc The outcome of the Ad-hoc will be presented and discussed at the TG13 meeting in Kona on Tuesday, where any decision will be made. Volker Jungnickel (Fraunhofer HHI)
