A brief history 1989 - NRP created by the MN Legislature - Funded through the Common Project TIF districts $20 million a year for 20 years to revitalize Minneapolis neighborhoods - 52.5% for housing and housing related activities 1991 - First neighborhoods “selected” to begin NRP - Program divided into two “phases” 2001- Changes to the tax structure reduced the program funds by nearly $100 million. 2012 - NCR assumed responsibility for administration of NRP
A benchmark reached With today’s approvals, all neighborhoods now have approved NRP Phase I and Phase II plans Phase I - First Plan approved - Jul 1992 Whittier - Final Plan approved - Dec 2007 Cedar Riverside Phase II - First Plans approved - Dec 2004 Seward, Powderhorn Park and Logan Park Final Plans to full City Council - Feb 2017 Nicollet Island-East Bank and West Calhoun All neighborhoods now implementing NRP plans
