“OPERATION 911 MIGRATION” SPECIAL EVENT STATION OPERATION
Schedule of Operation • Monday, March 31: daytime (0700 to 1700 hrs.) and evening as access is available. Tuesday, April 1: daytime through “Cut Over” the morning of April 2nd. • Operation is contingent on the RACES group not having to respond to county needs.
OPERATION • All available modes and frequencies are to be used as time and propagation allows. • Repeater and simplex contacts on VHF and UHF are acceptable. • Contacts on HF will be dependant on propagation and time of day. • Operators will be scheduled in two hour shifts.
QSL and Certificate • Contacts sending a QSL and self addressed stamped envelope will be sent an event certificate noting the contact. • QSL is via KB3HEV, the callsign of the EOC Station. • Certificates are being produced by the county.
PUBLICITY • Announcements of the operation will be posted on “QRZ.com” and “eHam.net”, describing the operation, the contingency, and the QSL process. • Announcements will be made on local nets. • The Sussex RACES website will have a special page of information on the operation. • We hope to be able to provide real time updates via the website on frequency of operation.
WHY ??? • To provide maximum operating experience for RACES members with the new station. • To exercise the station equipment under real conditions. • To have RACES personnel immediately available for back-up service. • To test and evaluate station capabilities through an analysis of the contacts made and signal reports received. • The resulting publicity and interest generated through the contacts and certificates can bring favorable recognition not only to the RACES group, but Sussex County as well.
