How to Start the Analysis Excel AddIn • To start Analysis in Excel, you usually would … • Click the Analysis Excel icon that is by default available on your desktop after installation • Choose the Analysis tab in Excel • You can also start the Analysis Excel AddIn from the Windows Programs List XP: SAP BusinessObjects Advanced Analysis for Microsoft Excel Advanced Analysis for Microsoft Excel
Enable/Disable the Analysis Excel AddIn Manually • To enable/disable the Analysis Excel AddIn manually: • Click the Office button and select Excel Options • Select AddInsCOM AddIns • Select/deselect the checkbox for Analysis and click OK

Insert Crosstabs • In Analysis for Excel, data is displayed and analyzed in crosstabs. To insert a crosstab into a worksheet: • Select an empty cell in a worksheet where you want to insert the crosstab. • Click the Insert button in the ribbon and select Other Data Source. • A history of recently selected data sources is kept and available for quick access. • Logon to BOE. • You can skip the BOE logon to work locally with SAPLogon connections. • Select the system and data source from the dialog. • You can insert multiple crosstabs in a workbook with data from different sources and systems. Default View in Crosstab • After insertion, the default view of the data source is displayed • Default view of BW Queries is as defined in Bex QueryDesigner • Default view of BW InfoProvider is all measures in the columns, aggregated over all dimensions • Default view of BW QueryViews is as defined by QueryView • In summary, the default view of all BW sources should appear as in BEx Row /Column Dimensions Header Area Column Members Area (inthis case: Measures) Data Area Row Members Area

Design Panel – Analysis Tab • Use the Design panel to modify the data layout in the Crosstab. • Show / Hide the Design panel by clicking the Display in the Ribbon • Chosse the the Analysis tab • Add / move / swap / remove dimensions, measures, attributes, or hierarchies by dragging between the different areas of the Analysis tab page, or between the Crosstab and the Analysis tab page. Analysis Tab Areas • Analysis Tab Areas • The Field Explorer area displays all fields (measures, dimensions, attributes and hierarchies) of the data source available for analysis. • The Rows/ Columns areas display all fields that are currently displayed in rows or columns of the crosstab. • The Background Filter area displays member filters of dimensions that are not displayed, but still restrict the data set that is read from the data source. Design Panel – Pause Refresh • You can do multiple data navigation steps and refresh when you are done. • Toggle off the Pause Refresh button in the Analysis Ribbon. • Perform as many navigation steps in the Analysis tab page as you want – the crosstab is not refreshed after each step. • Toggle on the Pause Refresh button – the crosstab is refreshed again, with all the changes being applied at once. • This feature is useful if single refreshes take substantial time, and you know in advance that you need to perform multiple navigation steps to create your desired crosstab view. • Note that most functions in the Ribbon and context menus are not available while Pause Refresh is active – you should work only on the Analysis tab page while refresh is paused. Drag & Drop in Crosstab • You can also use Drag & Drop directly in the crosstab to re-order or remove members, measures or dimensions. • Select a member cell or a dimension header cell in rows or columns • Move the mouse to the edge of the cell until the mouse cursor changes • Click on the cell border and drag the element to the desired position (for reordering) or outside the crosstab (for removing). • While you drag the element over the crosstab, possible drop positions will be highlighted to guide you.
Display Member Keys and/or Texts • You can change how members are displayed in the crosstab • Select dimension header or members • Select the desired display option from the Member Display menu
