CHANGING ATTITUDES TO LAND Violations made vague or uncertain by science Man’s violations of nature of serious concern Universe as mostly static physical objects Universe elusive interplay of natural forces Science will explain all eventually Nature not fully knowable by rational mind Language is aggressive & manipulative Language is gentle & accommodating Sense of separateness from other life forms Sense of kinship , empathy with all life forms Sense of superiority over other life forms Each species has rich gifts & powers Religious beliefs above nature Religious beliefs within and level with nature
