(A) Programme Intro/ General Orientation • Orientation Games • Game A: The Name Game • Starting from the facilitator, he/she will have to introduce his/herself – name, country, school • The next person will have to repeat the name of the person before and introduce his/herself • This will go in a single direction until the last person has had his/her turn • II. 2 teams to compete against each other. • 1 representative from each team will stand facing each other with a large cloth in between. The cloth drops, and the first person to correctly identify the other person wins the round
(A ) Programme Intro/ General Orientation • Game B: Big Wind Blows! • Played among 2 teams (5 big groups in total) • Players stand in a circle, with one person in the center as “the big wind.” • This person identifies a characteristic that is true about himself/herself and all players who share the same characteristic must find a new seat. • Game C: The Human Knot • Each team is to form a human knot using their arms. • The goal is to figure out how to untangle the human knot without letting go of hands.
(B) Plenary Session 1 Topic: Understanding Global Issues Speaker: Assoc Prof Low GuatTin • The most pressing problems currently faced by the world (focusing on youth in particular) according to UN’s Millennium Developmental goals (MDG) • Equity, Education and youth development • Extreme poverty and hunger • HIV/AIDs • Environmental sustainability • The response of YMCAs through the Challenge 21 statement encouraging these certain points: • Empowering all • Committing to work in solidarity with the poor, dispossessed, uprooted people and oppressed racial, religious and ethnic minorities. • To face these challenges, the YMCA will develop patterns of cooperation at all levels that enable self-sustenance and self-determination.
(C) Plenary Session 2 Topic: Social Enterprise: Inspiring Change Speaker: Ms. AreenaLoo • The conceptualization of Bridge Learning – where did the vision come from, did you research on the social needs locally? • How has this program benefited the community? • Share the encouraging results of the program, and how it has inspired change directly and indirectly.
(D) Plenary Session 3 Topic: Youth Leadership Speaker: Mr. Wilson Ang • Using experience in setting up ECO-Singapore as an example of youth leadership: • How did he make use of his limited resources to overcome the challenges involved in setting up ECO-Singapore? • How has this organization benefited the community? • What are some of the encouraging results of his work, and how it has inspired change directly and indirectly?
(E) Uniquely Singapore CHALLENGE 1: Telephone Charades • Each team is given the same word/action/ phrase to act out. • The 1st person which a person acts out an action only for the next person in line, who in turn acts out for the next person (20sec for each person including the last person to guess) • People waiting for their turns are to backface their teammates. • The last person in line tries to guess what the original words/ action/ phrase was. This is to be written down a piece of paper so that other teams would not eavesdrop. • The team earns 1 point for each word guessed correctly. • Every team member can only be the ‘guesser’ once.
