School Calendar Development • 180 day student calendar • 1st semester ends before Winter Break • 2nd semester ends before Memorial Day • 10 teacher planning days • Furlough days – ? • While furlough days are possible again next year, GCPS will continue to build the calendar with 10 teacher planning days in the event funding is restored. • Preplanning week – 5 days • October (Columbus day) – 1 • January (prior to students returning from Winter break) – 1 • February – 1 • Postplanning – 2

School Calendar Development • Holidays • New Year’s Day • MLK Jr. Day • Spring Break • Spring Break – 5 days beginning the 1st full week in April (Monday after the first Sunday) • Memorial Day • Independence Day • Labor Day • Thanksgiving • Thanksgiving – 3 days or the entire week of Thanksgiving • Winter Break

  4. School Calendar Development • Snow Make-up Days – 3 • Early Release Days (ES/MS and HS) • Early Release Days for ES/MS are the beginning of October and end of February. • Recently changed based on input from principals/teachers.

School Calendar Development • September 5 – Presented Calendar Development process and 4 calendar options to Principals • September 10 – Present Calendar Development process and 4 calendar options to TAC • September 12 – Present Calendar Development process and 4 options to Assistant Principals.
