Factors for success • Campaign targets: farmers and consumers • Five years tradition in founding GMO free regions and local resistence • Broad alliance: cooperation FOE and Association of Familiy Farmers (Via Campesina), other Farmers´ networks, beekeepers, Greenpeace, etc. • Political circumstances: • Bavarias CSU lost absolute majority last autumn due to GMOs, too • Federal agriculture minister is from Bavaria • EU and national elections cause stress

  6. What did work against Mon 810? • Local actions: demonstrations in Aigner´s constituency • Online-campaining (Campact): Mrs Aigner, ban Mon 810 • (50 000 emails) • Lobbying on national and Bavarian level • Press work • Own study: Evaluation of all studies done since 2007
