Catechumenate • This means instruction in the faith. • Formation which leads to conversion • It is the process by which we learn about what we believe and how to worship • This process is the responsibility of all of The People of God
Catechumenate • Infants • Post baptismal • Catholic schools • Adults • Done before reception of the sacrament • RCIA • Early Church this was three years • Today about 10 months
Effects of Baptism • Removes Original Sin • Sanctifying grace infused • Theological virtues: Faith, Hope, Charity (Love) • All actual sins forgiven • If any have been committed- adult • Punishment for sin is remitted • No time in purgatory • New creation-new birth • Adopted children of God • Temple of the Holy Spirit • Member of the Body of Christ • Member of the Church
