Presentation Purpose • PETE programs must provide pre-service physical educators with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to promote physical activity and health-related fitness • Toward these critical exit outcomes, the use of Physical Best in teacher education has received considerable attention at recent conferences • The purpose of this presentation is to extend that discussion to include alternative and authentic assessment strategies for measuring pre-service physical educators’ readiness to employ Physical Best in their teaching

NASPE Physical Best Program • Physical Best is a program of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE), an association of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) • It is a comprehensive, health-related fitness education program, for use in K-12 physical education programs • Used in concert with Fitnessgram
