Nigeria Update Epidemiology of Wild Poliovirus

Nigeria WPV cases 2007 – as at March 23, 2007 W1 (n=8) W3 (n=23) • With latest onset 09-Feb-2007 Nigeria has 31 cases of wild poliovirus in 13 states in 2007, compared to 130 for the same period in 2006 in 13 states. • In 2007, Nigeria accounts for 46% of the global wild poliovirus cases . • Nigeria accounts for 86% of the cases in Africa.
