Commission proposal : increase by 19% • European Council: Same amount compared to amount budgeted over 2007-2013 • European Parliament: rejected the budget- ongoing negotiations

EU 2014-2020: a Pan African Programme (PAP) • Objective: provide dedicated support for the Strategic Partnership between EU and Africa • Key Principles: • Promote cross-regional, continental and global cooperation • Support mutual interest and shared values • Complementarity with other funding sources • Subsidiarity • Budget : COM proposal = €1 billion
The AUC New AU Commission and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as Chairperson in Oct 2012. AU Jubilee Summit : 50th Anniversary of the Organisation of the African Unity, 25-27 May 2013 AUC intends to: • Address multiple peace and security crises across the continent simultaneously • Work with a renewed focus on long term development • Implement a paradigm shift on deliverables • Mobilize African resources • Promote effective 'domestication' of AU policies
