  1. Year 13 Media Critical Evaluation

  2. Evaluation • Four evaluation questions • Each one must be answered in a different digital medium

  3. Evaluation Q1: • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? • Use an online presentation software to do this task.

  4. What should I include in this section of the evaluation. • You should really do four things in this task: • Explain what your media products are and which brief you were working to. You can give a short summary of the plot of your film here if you like and how your poster and magazine promote it. • Identify the conventions of short films, posters and magazine spreads, based on reading and your product research. (You should include embedded films, stills and other images here , as well as definitions of short films and academic approaches to them, including theory that you have learnt for section 1b of the exam) • Explain which of these conventions you used in your short film, poster and magazine, if any ( Again, you should use images, stills or video clips from your own short film, poster and spread) • Explain the ways that you think your short film develops or challenges the conventions of short film (Use stills and video examples) • Do a complete textual analysis on your own short film, poster and magazine, commenting on Camera/M-E-S/Sound/Editing again using stills and clips. For the print based products you might also talk about colour, layout, font and photography.
