  3. What they Wore?

  4. Education • Four year-old girls were taught how to spin (cloth making) • Making cloth was part of the future of all women • Cloth making was taught to the daughters until they were ten years old

  5. Education • At the age of 5, girls were taught how to act • They were taught to respect the elders (Aztec woman teaching her daughters moral codes )

  6. Early Life • Girls were to help mothers clean their homes • They helped cooking too • Taught to make tortillas • Taught to grind maize

  7. Discipline • Young girls were disciplined for: • If they failed to obey mother • Not following moral codes • Weaving or spinning poorly

  8. Marriage • Women’s expectations were to marry and have children • Reasons why they didn’t marry: • Her family needed her help at home • She stayed home to-make tribute clothing • Joined priesthood
