Establishment of AJK-TEVTA • AJK-TEVTA was established in July 2007 under the act iii of 2007 dated 27th February

Vision • The AJK-TEVTA was established with the objective to strengthen the skill development programme, produce required number of trained manpower and bring it at par with the national and international standards so that skilled manpower can contribute towards reducing unemployment, alleviation of poverty and thus provide a strong base for the sustainable socio economic development.
Mission: • To produce Skilled/trained manpower for employability, poverty alleviation and sustainable economic development.
Goals • To develop AJK-TEVTA into a well structured, effective and sustainable training organization that will deliver national & international demand driven technical and vocational training to assist the sectors of economy, namely: agriculture, industry, service & commerce, as a supplier of graduates that shall meet the relevant manpower demands. • For long term sustainability AJK-TEVTA will ensure budget availability & transparence at all level, clear staff development procedures, and an effective control and monitoring system for each line of the organization structure.
Objectives: • Promote and provide demand driven Technical & Vocational training. • Re-arrange and consolidate the existing TVET system under one management structure. • Establish a dynamic linkage with employers/ industry and other stake holders. • Regulate and develop standards of Technical and Vocational Training at national level including internationally recognize curriculum, examination and certification system. • Upgrade teaching abilities, skills and knowledge of teaching staff as well as upgrade teaching equipment to the required standards.
Continue…….. • Assess the Manpower Training Needs in the context of domestic and global markets. • Study and propose changes in the existing training legislations. • Develop and offer Need Based Courses in the sector of new technologies. • Establish data bank for skilled workers and technicians.
Strategy • Establishment of Board of Technical Education. • Restructuring and strengthening of institutional capacity and efficiency of institutions transferred to TEVTA. • Assess the Manpower Training Needs in the context of domestic and global markets (LIMS). • Establishment of Polytechnic institutes at District Level. • Establishment of Technical Training College (TTC) at District level. • Establishment of Vocational Training Institute (VTI) at Tehsil level. • Establishment of Skill Development Centers SDC’s at Union Council level. • Establishment of Vocational Training Center (Female) at Village level • Establishment of a regular labor market information system.
Continue…… • Launch a regular awareness campaign for the importance of the TVET sector. • Establishment of career counseling centers. • Introduction of certificate system for those who are working in private workshops and industry having good skills but no theoretical knowledge. • Launching of credit programs for pass out graduates to start their own business and entrepreneurship. • Organizing skill competition/exhibition among TVET institutions, workshops, seminars and certificate distribution ceremonies. • Tracer and impact study for pass outs of TVET institutions. • Introduction of well organized and regular system for apprenticeship.

NAVTTC, GIZ & AJK-TEVTA Relationship NAVTTC, with the collaboration of GIZ has launched a “TVET reform support programme” to implement the national skills strategy 2009-2013. All provincial TEVTA’s including TEVTA-AJK are working together in this program.
