Organisation and Training • Active engagement of National Co-Ordinators and information sharing through new Regional Mailing list. • Increase of number of National Co-Ordinators from 16 to 29 and more should follow since I know there are gaps !
Organisation and Training • Questionnaire issued to National Co-Ordinators get some basic information. • Estimate >5000 amateurs involved in emergency comms in Region 1 • Gathered information on VHF/UHF frequencies in use, we should protect all spectrum used for emergencies not just HF. • Checked whether all countries could handle 'third party traffic' in emergencies.
Organisation and Training • GlobalSET remains the main training opportunity for international working. • IARU HF Emergency Operating Procedure now translated into English, German, Spanish, Polish, Norwegian and Portuguese ! • Permission granted by RAC ( Canada ) to take parts of their training manual for use as a Region 1 Operating Manual
Publicity • GlobalSET was moved from May to April 18th to join World Amateur Radio Day. • Some countries got good publicity. • News item on BBC World Service featuring Alberto IK1YLO and Allen W1AGP. • We need to share more good news about events in our countries ! • More opportunities coming up...
