  1. Region 1 AASHTO RAC/TRB Summer Meeting 2014

  2. New Members • Kevin Mahoney – Connecticut DOT • Mike Kirkpatrick – Delaware DOT • Curtis Bradley & Jennifer Slesinger – Massachusetts DOT

  3. Accomplishments • Three first time attendees from Region 1 • MA & MD added Research staff • DC received $500K for implementation • MA and NH held Research and Innovation Showcases with over 200 attendees • New England states partnered with the University of Vermont for assistance with coordinating and hosting the annual New England Materials and Research Engineer’s Meeting

  4. Accomplishments • DE added state legislative language to enable the DOT to work with the University of Delaware • DE implemented a new more open process for the solicitation and selection of research projects • NH and MA received STIC funding • NH moved to deliverable based contracting systems and DE and MA are looking into it • MA received funding for Transit research • Several SHRP2 Implementation funding awards

  5. Accomplishments • PA received the Innovation of the Year Award for their STIC and process for identifying innovations

  6. Goals & Activities • Review current meeting schedule and frequency • Begin including presentations on research results in the region on the agenda • Continue to encourage applying for SHRP2 funding and submitting High Value Research projects • Encourage participation in RAC from all states in the region • Begin using the mentoring guidelines as new RAC members are assigned
