Think: 80% of $42.99 is what number? 80 100 n 42.99 = Write a proportion. 80 • 42.99= 100 • n Set the cross products equal. 3439.2= 100n 3439.2 100 = 100n 100 Divide each side by 100. 34.392= n Round to the nearest cent. The amount of the sales price is $34.39.

The amount of the discount is $8.60.
