Visualization and Data Analysis Workshop Focus

Introduce middle and high school teachers to visual analytics via homeland security examples, hands-on modules, and curriculum development. Help teachers identify misinformation in graphics and data, find online resources, and address curriculum needs. Define Visual Analytics (VA) and teach participants how they can incorporate VA into their curriculum to enhance learning. • Explain how to identify misinformation within graphics, good & bad visualizations and good & bad data. • Show participants how to find online resources for further explorations. • Determine outstanding teacher curriculum needs and ideas for future workshops.
