  2. LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE APPROACH

  3. Invite student to tell personal experience, story or anything of interest to him/her.

  4. Write the entire story exactly as the student says.

  5. Read your entire story pointing to words. Be sure to ask student if you wrote everything correctly

  6. Tutor reads first sentence to student while pointing to words.

  7. Tutor and student read first sentence together. Student then reads this sentence alone.

  8. Repeat this process with each remaining sentence until story is completed.

  9. Student reads entire story alone, with help as needed.

  10. Tutor asks comprehension questions based on story.

  11. Student copies story to take home and practice reading /writing.

  12. Student keeps a copy for writing and making exercises.
