Data Integrity Data Integrity guidelines define responsibilities of everyone accessing and managing enterprise operational data. These guidelines were developed to ensure: • Database integrity • Regulatory compliance • Security controls • Achieve the goals of efficient, professional, and cost-effective communication for the SHSU community
Data Integrity • Avoiding creation of duplicate records for a single entity; • Providing complete General Person information in a timely manner, with an audit trail of changes; • Using standard entry to facilitate consistent reporting and searches; • Sharing effective processing discoveries and problem-resolution scenarios; • Taking advantage of the database capabilities and functionality.

Naming Conventions Every form has an abbreviated seven-character form name: • Position 1 (Owner): Identifies the Banner product owning the form, report, process or table • Position 2 (Sub-module): Identifies the application module owning the form, report, process or table. Unique to the product identified in position 1.
Naming Conventions • Position 3 (Type): Identifies the type of form, report, process or table • Position 4,5,6,7 (Purpose): Identifies a unique four-character code
Naming Conventions • Example Banner Lingo: • SPAIDEN • SPAPERS • SGASTDN • GUAPMNU • NTRPCLS • PTRPCLS
Preferences/Options • My Banner (Personal Menus) • Personal Links • Quickflow • Searching • Printing • Exporting Data
Searching A wildcard is a special character that represents one of more other characters: • % (percent sign) represents any number of characters • _ (underscore) represents one occurrence of a character
INB Printing • The Print option under File will print a screen shot of the current screen (PRINT SCREEN) • WEBUTIL saves the report to a specified location. To use this functionality: • Run report • Choose Show Document from the Options menu (prompts to save file) • Reports save as a .LIS format • Open using a text editor (Notepad, WordPad or MS Word)
