  2. CONTACT Every day we serve people, from teens to seniors, facing daily life challenges. Through 24-hour free confidential listening, comfort, and a connection to resources, education, and emergency assistance, we give people the ability to take back control of their lives. CONTACT Crisis Line is here 24 hours a day, every day, to help people get from the BREAKING POINT to the TURNING POINT.

Preliminary research by Johns Hopkins University on the Awareness, Attitudes, and Use of Crisis Hotlines among Youth: Majority of teens would prefer talking to someone rather than chat or text (41%) State hotline (Maryland Youth Crisis Hotline) underutilized Awareness was a challenge Strategies like legislating hotline numbers printed on public school IDs increased call volume 200%

CONTACT App Following the lead of other mental health apps, CONTACT would like to create an app that provides utility AND assistance to users Goals: Connect users with immediate help in the event of a crisis Provide useful information regarding depression and suicide ideation Help users monitor their mental health treatment(s) Give users tips on maintaining optimal mental health

ASK Application Developed by Mental Health America of Texas Provides information about suicide, specifically Warning Signs Offers direction to individuals who are suicidal or who are interacting with someone who is suicidal Addresses at-risk groups (Veterans, LGBTQ) Gives users the opportunity to make a call with the push of a button Supplies other helpful links to other programs

HOPE BOX Application Developed by Mental Health America of Texas Provides individuals (targeting teens and young adults) who are living with depression, suicide ideation, or a mental health disorder a supportive tool Utility helps to monitor mood with various features User can journal, save pictures, store important numbers Offers positive reinforcement through validation cards

CONTACT App Features Potential features, given the goals: A “call” button whereas people can call for immediate assistance A feature where the crisis line numbers will be saved to Contacts Information on depression and suicide ideation • Warning signs • General definitions Mood/symptom tracking tool Medication/appointment tracker (can be installed or not, as not all users would find the utility in this) Links to other resources Wellness tips Symptom checker
