    2. Regular Verbs Most verbs are regular verbs. Regular verbs are those whose past tense and past participles are formed by adding a -d or an -ed to the end of the verb. roll, rolled

    3. Irregular Verbs There is no formula to predict how an irregular verb will form its past-tense and past-participle forms. There are over 250 irregular verbs in English. Although they do not follow a formula, there are some fairly common irregular forms.

    7. Simple Past – Regular Verbs -Spelling 1) CVC - Double the consonant. stop – stopped swap - swapped

    9. Simple Past – Regular Verbs -Spelling 3) verbs ending in -y verbs ending in 'y' preceded by a vowel -ed play - played

    11. Affirmative sentences: I played football. I went to the supermarket.

    12. Negative sentences: Use the auxiliary did I didn't (did not) play football. I didn't (did not) go to the supermarket.

    18. Evolution of Technology Since computers were first introduced to the public in the early 1980's, technology changed a great deal. The first computers were simple machines designed for basic tasks. They did not have much memory and they were not very powerful.

    19. Computers were often quite expensive and customers often paid thousands of dollars for machines which actually did very little. Most computers were separate, individual machines used mostly as expensive typewriters or for playing games.

    20. Times have changed. Computers have become powerful machines with very practical applications. Programmers have created a large selection of useful programs which do everything from teaching foreign languages to bookkeeping. We are still playing video games, but today's games have become faster, more exciting interactive adventures.

    21. Many computer users have also got on the Internet and have begun communicating with other computer users around the world. We have started to create international communities online. In short, the simple, individual machines of the past have evolved into an international World Wide Web of knowledge.
