The Pathway to Success Introduction & Purpose The Rural Health Innovation Collaborative (RHIC) represents a unique opportunity to align the resources and strategic direction of several community institutions in Terre Haute to address a grand challenge - improving and expanding health care in our community.
The Pathway to Success Methods The goals for "Realizing the full potential of the RHIC" are as follows: Create a master plan for the RHIC District Create an inter-professional Simulation center Formalize the structure of the RHIC Identify health care workforce shortages for Terre Haute Offer new programs to address health care worker shortages 6. Create inter-professional educational opportunities for the RHIC partners.
The Pathway to Success Benchmarks • Added five new graduate programs that will decrease health care worker shortages. • Will add 320 new graduate students by Fall of 2014. • Will increase the number of graduates working in rural areas 8% • By 2014. • Will have attracted three new businesses to Terre Haute by 2014. • Over 1300 students will have used the simulation center by 2014.
The Pathway to Success Discussion • An Inter-professional Simulation Center was Created • New Degree programs were created at ISU to decrease worker shortages • Doctor of Nursing Practice d. Master of Social Work • Physical Therapy e. Occupational Therapy • Physician Assistant Studies f. PhD – Health Sciences • New programs have attracted 40 new graduate students and will attract up to 320 by 2014. • A Master Plan for the RHIC District was created.
