  1. What’s the BigDeal? A plate is a plate, is a plate!!

  2. Your Description Goes Here The All American Food Culture • “BIGportions are good”. • “If BIGis good then BIGGERis even better!” • Do you know how much you are really eating?

  3. The Way Things Used to Be • Your Description Goes Here Most people who grew up before the 60’s have already been on a diet. It was called: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! • In the past people ate things like: • Scrambled eggs and bacon • Baked ham and mashed potatoes • Green bean casserole and dinner rolls with butter • And they had dessert too! • They “cleaned” their plate and then they were done.

  4. BIGGER is Better-Right? • Your Description Goes Here Things just keep growing in America! • Things have certainly changed since the 60’s! • Over the past 30-40 years everything in America has gotten BIGGER!! • Cars grew to station wagons… then vans…now two-ton SUV’s • Homes have grown to MCMANSIONS • Televisions have gone from 27 inches to whatever it takes to fill the wall.

  5. Bigger is just BIGGER Our plates have become platters! No wonder America is overweight! • Your Description Goes Here The American plate has grown from 9 inches to 12 inches and it is still growing. The bigger the plate the more it takes to fill it. After all, who wants a half empty plate!

  6. Size Matters • Your Description Goes Here A plate is a plate is a plate…… By now you are probably thinking this is nuts. Who cares what sizethe plate is? I don’t have to eat it all! It turns out that most people DOeat it all! Saying “NO” to food is a very hard thing to do!

  7. BIGGERPlates Mean More Calories Americans have been taught to clean their plates! • Your Description Goes Here The larger the plate, the more calories consumed. More calories consumed means more weight gained! The problem is you don’t even know you are eating more because you are simply “CLEANING” your plate.

  8. It’s a Mind Game If you have a large plate with very little on it, your mind says, “I need more food”. If you have a small plate but it is full, your mind says “That’s Plenty”. • Use a SMALLER plate • Fill it up (within reason) • Eat everything on your plate • “Clean” only one plate • Lose a pound or two • Without even trying!

  9. I Get It! Size does matter!
