Advertising • Because Warner Bros are a big conglomerate they could afford to spend a lot on advertising (over $3 million) this included social media strategies as well as merchandise and goods • Warner Bros, being a well known company, therefore have a bigger social media following and this meant that they would reach a bigger audience
Social media accounts • They have an Instagram account that is verified • And a twitter account with 376.9K followers which featured promotion, reviews and behind the scenes photos and videos • On these accounts they also used popular hashtags and created their own hashtags to reach more people
Countdown • They featured a countdown until the movies release to drum up attention
Snapchat filters • They also made a snapchat filter to engage a younger audience who mostly use snapchat
Magazine covers • Gal Gadot featured on the front of many well known magazines where she talked about herself and the film • This helped to reach a wider audience and helped them to get to know Gal Gadot and want to see the film after reading about her
Using other celebrities to advertise • They also used other well known celebrities to advertise the film and give it a good review so that their followers would want to see the film if their favorite celebrity liked it
Re-tweeting other accounts • They also re-tweeted prime video’s tweet announcing its release on prime video
Merchandise • They released merchandise with well known companies and brands to promote theirs film and get people to wear and therefore advertise the film • For example this jacket and they also released a makeup pallet
Comic-con • They had a panel at comic con which is a popular convention in America for people who are interested in films and tv • This would have helped them as they could connect with the audience and advertise it there
Film poster • The film poster for wonder woman featured Gal Gadot in the center looking strong and powerful • This would appeal to viewers who are interested in strong female characters • Also in one she is running and you can see debris flying around her this shows that this is an action movie and this would therefore appeal to these types of audiences
Trailer • In the trailer for wonder woman they show a range of clips from the film that appeal to different genres, for example they show big action scenes but also romance scenes between Diana and Steve and also comedy moments from the film, this would help Warner Bros market the film to audiences who prefer different genres • They also use slow paced editing at the start to build suspense and then faced paced editing at the end to build drama
