  2. Induction For this introductory assignment you will research the different types of retailers, and relate this study to Pudsey. You will give a presentation of your findings to the rest of the class.

  4. What about retailing in Pudsey and Leeds? For this assignment we are going to look at retailing in general as well as the area of Pudsey.

  5. History of Retailing in Leeds Discovering Leeds - The Markets

  6. Types of Retailers So we know that ‘markets’ were the first type of retailers. How things have changed, now around the world we can buy goods and services in all types of retailers.

  7. Task A So are all retailers the same? The answer is no!, there are many different types of retailers in the UK, look at the 3 above how would you classify these?

  9. So what about Pudsey? Pudsey is a small market town, shopping in Pudsey like most areas began with a market specialising in textiles. Today it offers a much wider choice. What retailers can be found in Pudsey?

  10. Research Task Conduct a visit into Pudsey including the Owlcotes. List up to 20 retailers in the area and using the tally sheet describe their business activity (what they do). Can you identify the type of retailer they are from our list.
