Environmental Policy • To encourage and stimulate the collegiate community into protecting and developing the environment • Work with procurement department and suppliers to ensure the continuation of ‘green sourcing,’ recyclable, sustainable environmentally friendly and fair trade products and packaging • Continue to raise awareness of our goals and achievements to staff and students to encourage further participation • Reduce energy costs/usage by 30% in line with University policy • Increase awareness of recycling opportunities and reduce landfill contribution • Ensure effective management of all resources
College Actions • Audit waste – ensure recycling occurring and reduce general waste bins, increase recycling to 55% (2009-2010 average 47.5%) • Meetings with Environmental team, push through objectives • Encourage participation in ‘switch off’ hour and record results • Ensure recycling occurs within all offices and departments • Encourage ideas from all staff and all departments report into environment meetings • Build links for sharing best practice with DSU/E&B/Colleges • Promote ideas and policies from Greenspace • Attend meetings to develop knowledge on site from internal resource and external bodies • Maintain Green Tourism Board Gold Standard
Key Performance Indicators • Increase in recycling to 50% - Biffa figures • Provide minutes of meetings, records of participation in events • Reduction in consumption on energy bills, monitoring via E&B • GTB Audit
