My Interview with Rosa Parks By: AlyshaBrough
Rosa Parks “Mother of Modern Day Civil Rights Movement” On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks, age 42, refused to obey bus driver James Blake's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger.
Ms. Rosa Parks, how do you think standing up for your rights has changed views on racial segregation? I believe that since I stood up for my rights, people began to see that there are no real differences between white and people of color. I think that People everywhere have begun to see that we are all alike and all different in many different ways. I see the world changing and my people getting more and more rights. This is the way the world should be. Everyone should live together peacefully and do what they can to help one another. I think that if I hadn’t stood up for myself this movement may have taken a lot longer to take place and happen. I am proud of myself and all of the people that stood behind me while this movement was taking place.
Ms. Rosa Parks, how do you think education has changed for students of all color? I think that since the civil rights movement students have been given immense opportunities in education. Students all attend the same school and classes. They can learn from one another and share ideas that others may not have had. Students are also given the opportunity to succeed even if the need help with certain subjects. I believe that any student can do any thing that they set their mind to. If student try things and fail they should not give up. The students should keep trying they will succeed at anything they set their mind to.
Ms. Rosa Parks, do you think that students today are proud of the accomplishments that you made during your life time? I really hope and believe that students today are proud of the major accomplishments I have made during my lifetime. I want to give young people a sense of pride and awareness of themselves and that they can do anything that they set their mind to. I really do think that any student who is looking at history and sees what I have done for our country will really appreciate and be inspired by me.
