XRT/ Carryall 4 WHEEL DRIVE • The XRT and Carryall 4X4 products are pretty much identical except for some accessories and rear bed design differences. • Overall the Features and benefits of both product lines are virtually the same • The products top speed is 25 mph and were developed as work vehicles that you could also have fun driving. • The higher speed ( 50-60 mph) competitive vehicles are made more for play and do not hold up well when carrying heavy loads • Overall Club Cars 4x4 product line has some great features that set our products apart • This presentation will help identify those key selling points

  6. 4WD – The Basics • Not all 4x4’s are the same • Many configurations - no standards to call 4x4 • Two Basic Types • Part-Time 4x4 (Manual 4WD) • Rear Diff Lock • 4x4 Engagement • 4x4 Hi / 4x4 Low • Full-Time 4x4 (All Wheel Drive) • Automatic 4x4 and Diff Lock engagement • Wheel slip activated • Common Driveline Subsystems • Powertrain • Rear Differential • Transmission • Front Differential (4x4 only)

Major Components CVT Transmission • CVT (Constant Variable Transmission) • Think 10 speed Bicycle gear design, but with infinite gears between speed 1 and speed 10 • Transfer Case (Hi/Low Gear) • 4WD Hi • Same Gear Ratios as 2WD • Used for all 4WD driving unless Low gear req • 4WD Low • Heavy loads, steep grades, low speeds • Gear ratios about ½ of high range • Provides 2-3 times more torque than high range

  8. ONE REAR WHEEL DRIVE (4X2) • Most Rear Wheel Drive vehicles are 1WD such as Carryall 1,2 etc. • Rear differential transfers power to wheel with least traction – “path of least resistance” • Driving Conditions • Good for on-road and turf applications

TWO WHEEL DRIVE WITH REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (4X2) • Full locking rear differential • Manual engagement – mechanical lever or electric switch • Locks both rear wheels to power simultaneously • Significant traction Increase • Does not allow different wheel speeds in turns – Tire must slip or skip when cornering. • Limited slip rear diff • Transfer of torque to wheel with most traction • Momentary 2WD • Automatic engagement • Driving conditions • On-road w/out diff lock • moderate off-road applications • Avoid diff lock on-road or in turf applications

  13. 4x4 InteliTrak System • How Does the system achieve this performance? • Five simple operating principles combine to make it happen: • Principle #1 “One or both rear wheels are always at the drive speed” • Principle #2 “The front diff is always live” • Principle #3 “Front wheels drives slightly slower than the rear” • Principle #4 “Wheels can independently over-run the driveshaft” • Principle #5 “The transmission automatically shifts all the way from overdrive to granny low”

Eaton “Detroit” Gearless Lockers • Automatic Differential Lock • no switches, cables, air or external control • designed for the harsh environments of mud, water, rocks, and other demanding trail hazards. • Ultimate Trail Performance • Driving straight, the differential is locked providing full power to each wheel. • In turn, the differential allows the outside wheel to travel faster at ground speed. • Never a condition where one wheel spins while the other is stopped • Provides easy steering

Major Components - Differentials • Only when going straight are all four wheels turning at the same speed rate • Differential • The differential distributes RPM (Power) to the left and right wheel as needed. Meaning equal rpm when traveling straight • Less rpm to the inside wheel and more rpm to the outside wheel when in a turn. • The differential of the front axle does exactly the same thing on 4x4’s • RPM (Power) transferred to wheel moving fastest. Does not account for reduced traction

Functionality – Traction/Steering (XRT1550/ CARRYALL 295) • Good traction surfaces (rear lock) • Torque to rear only - applied to both or one wheel • Rear wheel with most traction must overcome force to drive vehicle • Rear wheels automatically unlock and turn at different speed side to side • No increase in steering effort • Marginal/poor traction surfaces (rear lock, 4WD) • Torque to split between all wheels when front engages • Wheel with most traction must overcome force to drive vehicle • Rear wheels turn at same speed side to side • Front wheels turn at same speed side to side • Front drives after both rear wheels slip • No increase in steering effort Automatic differential lock integrated into front axle Over-running function automatic in transmission Automatic differential lock integrated into rear axle

Functionality – Traction/Steering (XRT950) • Good traction surfaces: (no rear lock, no 4WD) • Torque to rear only - equally split between wheels • Rear wheel with least traction must overcome force to drive vehicle • Rear wheels can turn at different speed side to side • No increase in steering effort • Marginal traction surfaces: (rear lock, no 4WD) • Torque to rear wheels only - applied to both or one wheel • Wheel with most traction must overcome force to drive vehicle • Poor traction surfaces: (rear lock, 4WD) • Torque split between all wheels • Rear wheel in locking mode with most traction + front wheel with least traction ( automatic front wheel drive ) • Rear wheels will drive at same speed ( left and right) • Front wheels will turn at different speeds when turning left to right similar to Intellitrak. This improves steering effort in 4 wheel drive mode. Mechanical 4WD shift-on-the-fly integrated into rear axle for poor traction surfaces Mechanical rear differential lock integrated into rear axle for marginal/poor traction surfaces

  30. TEST DRIVES • THE PERECENTAGES ARE VERY LOW SELLING 4X4 VEHICLES OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR OR A BROCHURE! The key to increasing the closure rate of the 4x4 products Club Car offers, is to make sure customers can take a test drive on them. • It is a proven fact that customers are shocked to see just how great our products perform under tough conditions. The only way to show them how good our products perform is to get them to sit in the vehicle and experience the vehicle in action. • Key to the sale is to insure our dealers either have a test track at their facilities or a location near by where they can take a customer for a test drive. • When getting the customer on a test track it will allow you to also point out all the key selling features again to them • The percentage of closing sales increase dramatically when you get customers to test drive our vehicles on a track that has water, bumps etc..
