Jonah fled God’s commands. Others were on the ship. • Herod caused grief trying to kill Jesus – Matt. 2:16f • Neighbors hungry because of alcohol and gambling. • School to attend. Job to accept. Every decision impacts many. Impacted by Other’s Decisions
Robbery, drugs, murder every day occurences. • Identity theft or con artists preying on elderly. • “War” in Iraq or terrorist bombings. • Why didn’t God stop Eve, or Cain, or me. • Free Will. • Eventually God will step in – Matt. 25:31ff; Heb. 10:31 Vulnerable to Man’s Inhumanity
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Tim. 3:12) see also John 16:33 Not “When will I ever get out of these troubles,” but “What will I get out of this trouble.” Compare Job 14:1, “Man, who is born of woman is short-lived and full of turmoil.” with Psalm 119:71, “It is good for me that I was afflicted that I may learn Your statutes.” We Are Righteous, Darkness Hates Light
