  4. Elmo What is it? • Document camera/projection system • Evolved from the overhead projector • Displays documents and objects that are not translucent • Also able to display movies

  5. Elmo What teachers can do with this technology • Display 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work • Whole class instruction • Small reader books (primary grades) • Introducing new topics • Review of concepts (patterns, colors, vocabulary) • Demonstrations in special areas (art, science)

Movie Making Programs History : • Windows Movie Maker came out in 2000 and suffered poor reviews compared to iMovie by Apple that had been released in 1999 (http://windows-movie-maker.software.informer.com/wiki) • Windows Movie Maker and iMovie are software downloaded to the computer • There are also web based movie making programs • Animoto.com • Kizoa.com

  11. Smartboard/Promethean Board • Interactive white boards have been around for almost 20 years. • They are used in education, businesses, and governmental areas. • The two main companies that manufacture interactive white boards are SmartBoard and the Promethean board.

Smartboard • The SmartBoard originated from Canada. • It was founded in 1987 by David Martin and Nancy Knowlton. • Made its first appearance in 1991. • In 1992, Smart linked with the Intel Corporation and the SmartBoard took off. • Today it is reported that 1.7 million to date installed for schools, business, and government. • Fun Fact: You may also have seen them on the popular TV series CSI.   14. Promethean Board Research • Dr. Robert J. Marzano, PhD, cofounder and CEO or Marzano Research Laboratory in Englewood, Colorado, conducted a study regarding the use of technology and student growth. • The study showed that teachers who were more confident with using the boards used it more, helping instruction within their classroom.
